Despite the many demands for her new role, the star made it all seem effortless as she threw herself into the character.

Nia wore a button-down denim dress with her hair in a ponytail while John wore a gray T-shirt and jeans.

The screen couple smiled as they strolled along the beach together through the various deck chairs and umbrellas.

One of the assistants followed Nia with an umbrella while another followed the duo with a microphone in his hand.

The cast returned in 2016 for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which wasn’t entirely successful, grossing $59.6 million domestically and $90.6 million worldwide.

Vardalos confirmed last year that a third movie was in the works, but production was halted due to their inability to obtain insurance.

The cast also suffered a loss last year with the death of actor Michael Constantine, who played Patriarch Jose Portocalos.

Vardalos revealed that Constantine asked them to make the third film without him, and she wrote the script with his wishes.

He told me he wouldn’t be able to join us for the third movie and it was his wish that we would continue. I wrote the script to reflect Michael’s decision and I will always cherish his last messages to me, hoping we’d be shooting soon,” she posted on Instagram.

The plot of this latest episode is still being kept secret, but Varadalos assured fans that Ian and Toula “are not grandparents!” in this sequel.
