Will Smith is allegedly creating his big movie comeback, after the highly publicized Oscars controversy in March when he slapped Chris Rock on stage.
After a 10-year ban on attending the Academy Awards, the 53-year-old actor is reported to be taking matters into his own hands with a self-produced sequel to the 2007 movie, I Am Legend, via his Westbrook Media company.
An insider told The Sun: ‘The script is written to mention his character and so far Will remains associated with the project.

Warner Bros. has yet to sign off on the concept, but there has been no indication that Will is out of the project.
It’s clear that the film’s producer and his production company are to blame while development continues. Will himself is undergoing treatment and is taking time away from the spotlight.
The dystopian follow-up photo will see The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air star back as Robert Neville, who works to cure a zombie apocalypse in New York.
The film directed by Francis Lawrence focused on the story of the scientist and the last survivor of the plague.

In the movie, Will’s character seeks to reverse the effects of the virus by using his immune blood.
Sources have claimed that Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who adapted Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel into the first film, will feature Richard’s character in the script.
MailOnline contacted Will and Akiva representatives, as well as Westbrook Media for comment.
It comes after Jada Pinkett Smith addressed her husband Will and slapped comedian Chris at the Academy Awards for the first time in depth, saying she hopes the two men will have a “chance to heal” and “reconcile” after the traumatic incident.
Regrets: Kris, 57, will be assaulted after he joked about Jada’s bald head, as a result of her autoimmune disorder (pictured March 2022)
Speaking prior to Wednesday’s Red Table Talk special about hair loss, Jada, 50, began referring to the controversy when Will assaulted Kris, 57, after he made a joke about Jada’s bald head, which was the result of her suffering from an autoimmune disorder.
This is a really important red table talk about hair loss. Given what I went through with my health and what happened at the Oscars, the actress started.
Thousands have reached out to me through their stories. I’m taking this moment to give our Vixen family a chance to talk about what it means to have this condition and to tell people what Vixen actually is.
“Now on Oscar night, I hope these two smart and capable guys have a chance to heal and talk about it and reconcile them,” Jada said, addressing this infamous slap.
She continued, “The state of the world today we need both. And we all actually need each other more than ever. Until then, Will and I will continue to do what we’ve been doing for the past 28 years, and this continues to discover this thing called life. Together. Thank you for listening.’
After the incident, Will was seen partying with his family last night at the Vanity Fair Oscars, dancing to his special “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” while fans cheered him on.
However, a few days later he apologized in an official statement saying his behavior was “unacceptable and unforgivable” and left him “embarrassed”.
“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive,” he wrote.

My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and unforgivable. The jokes on my account are part of the job, but the jokes about Jada’s medical condition were too much for me to handle and she reacted emotionally.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I feel embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I wanted to be. There is no place for violence in the world of love and kindness.”
Chris hasn’t responded to Will’s apology, but has pointed to the slap several times since then while performing to stand up.
Last month, Chris joked that he “restored most of my reputation” after the slap, during a set at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
After an official review of the incident in April, Will was banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years, but was allowed to keep the Best Actor award he won for King Richard.
In a statement, the academy criticized his “unacceptable” and “harmful” behavior that “overshadowed” the entire evening.
During the television broadcast, we did not sufficiently touch on the situation in the room. For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers, and the Academy family around the world, and we failed – unprepared for the unprecedented.
The Board of Directors has resolved, for a period of 10 years effective April 8, 2022, not to permit Mr. Smith to attend any academic events or programmes, in person or virtually, including but not limited to Academy Awards.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during the telecast.
