Video Reviews for Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 2022

It became bleak for a while.

Middle Tennessee has been rocking longtime coach Rick Stockstill with winning seasons and regular ball games. Then came a hiatus year in 2019 where it was 4-8, followed by a 0-4 start at 3-6 2020.

2-4 to start 2021 the show was saved by an impressive streak of some of the easiest teams in FBS to play, the season flipped, there was a bowl appearance, and a little stunning win over Toledo made it a 7-6 season with things starting to get back to normal. .

But now is the time to start doing more.

The USA Convention was destroyed by the Sun Belt – Marshall, Old Dominion, and Miss South lost. More will be involved next year in the American Athletic Conference — Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB, UTSA — and that leaves the league a shell of its own prior to the 2023 season.

Middle Tennessee was about to leave for MAC, but it remains, as are FIU, Louisiana Tech, UTEP and WKU, to go along with the addition of Jacksonville State, Liberty, New Mexico State and Sam Houston State.

What does this mean? This makes for a great season for the show.

The USA Conference will be there to cash in, and Stockstill must prove after 16 seasons in 2022 that everything is on track for the Blue Raiders to be the star.

Preview for Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 2022: Attack

Crime should be much better. 12th in the USA Conference and 96th overall, the Blue Raiders averaged just 362 yards per game, but they raised points against bad teams by averaging 30 points per game. There was no running game, and no passing attack on the field. but …

Crime restores the man. Chase Cunningham had a great season throwing over 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns with just three picks in eight games, but was knocked out with a leg injury.

Nicholas Fatiato went out and won three of his last four games – including the bowl – after conceding five picks in the loss to WKU. Now the Blue Raiders have a strong QB mode.

Major receiver Jaylin Lane returns after rolling for 528 yards and four touchdowns on 42 catches, and Youssef Ali is a nice mid-range receiver who did 45 catches. The transfer portal offers the ultimate help, and once again, Cunningham’s return will make everyone better.

Blue Raiders used a large range of parts in the running game, But lead racer Martell Pettaway only gained 372 yards. It’s over, but sophomore Frank Flander is experienced enough to take on the job. The rotation of young people and their quick backs will be behind him.

The offensive line was decent in protecting the pass but now he should start doing more to attack the ground. The problem is, the front five is about to start over. There’s a lot of mass around the Jordan Palmer All-Star center, but it’s going to take some time.

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 2022 review: Defense

Defense may not always be great, But this thing took the ball too far in groups. Middle Tennessee led the nation with 32 tips, and led Conference USA in a loss tackle, and was fit enough to save the season.

However, there are some particle Talent loss losing mainstay star, Reed Blankenship, heart and soul LB DQ Thomas, and second striker Greg Great. Altogether, the top four strikers were gone and Quincy Riley headed to Louisville, but…

The defensive front should be good on the inside. All junior players are expected to return to the line – starting with star passer Jordan Ferguson – and with a gentle spin in the tackle.

The Seven Defenders will need more time. There is no substitute for what Blankenship and Thomas have brought in, but Jonathan Butler is a good central defender and Tildrick Ross should be among the best full-backs in the conference when he returns in good health.

Tennessee Blue Center Raiders: Key to the 2022 Attack

Be a lot better on the third landing.

Middle Tennessee struggled a lot to keep the chains moving. Not having a steady running game was part of that, not being able to hit the ground throw didn’t help and simply not being able to get out of the clutch significantly after it mattered.

The offense was 125th in the state in the third swing converting only 31% of the time, killing much of the momentum created by the defense that kept clearing the ball.

The team’s performance was 30% or less eight times. To be fair, the program hasn’t been great in its third downturn for years – other than a higher mark in 2020. The program still needs improvement.

Tennessee’s Blue Center Raiders: Key to Defense in 2022

Keep taking the ball away.

Yes, Middle Tennessee has lost a lot of talent, but the systems are working. The program has been great over the years at forcing fast food, but nothing can match what the 2021 batch has done.

Defense led the nation in fast food with 17 pickaxes and 15 recoveries. Not surprisingly, most games with a high number of turnovers result in wins, shocking Marshall with six takeaways and getting Miss Southern with five.

They came in multiple takeaways eight times and three or more times in seven games. All of this came at a great distance towards the end of 2020, and now D in a row from three or more takeaways nine times in 17 games.

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders: Key player for 2022

LB Raccoon Hartley, Will.
All DQ Thomas did was make 309 tackles, 20.5 sacks, 53 tackles to lose, forced eight-passes and touchdowns in his five years as a poor quarterback in central Tennessee.

All Raquon Hartley did was do 34 tackles with 1.5 sacks and three tackles to lose in two seasons. He’s a defensive linebacker who plays as a weak linebacker, but he needs to try somehow to match what Thomas brought to the center.

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders: Transfer Switch

RB Joe Irvine, Will.
Or a graduate student, a sophomore of Avarius Sparrow. Both players need help ramping up the production of a running game that hasn’t gone anywhere in a while.

Frank Peasant is a good linebacker, but Sparrow is a fast paced from West Virginia, and the 5-8, 179-pound Ervin of Kansas State could be a difference-maker with his pace.

The 2022 Middle Tennessee Key game

In James Madison, Sept. 3
The Blue Raiders have to steal some road victories from somewhere.

They started the season with three of their first four games on the road and probably won’t beat Miami or Colorado State. James Madison will be in his first match in the FBS world, and he has the talent and rationale to win even without the emotional component.

Don’t put too good a point on it, but Middle Tennessee would need this in the opener to get to six wins and a pot.

Predicting the Blue Raiders season in Middle Tennessee, what will happen

It would take a lot of smoke and mirrors to pull this off.

The defense will have to take the ball off the court again, the offense has to be more consistent and explosive, and the underhand schedule with so many losing road games can’t be overwhelming.

Miami is a loss, and if there is no major disruption, the road games at Colorado State, UAB and Louisiana Tech should go in the wrong direction as well.

Key dates with UTSA, WKU, and Florida Atlantic don’t help, but at least the ones in Murfreesboro do.

Determine the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders’ regular season win with a total of… 6

There will be no less than four losses, and there will be no less than four wins. It will all be 50/50 matches against teams like UTEP on the road and Charlotte at home as Middle Tennessee has to find a way to pull off the fire.

Whether it’s a general year or not, he’s likely to come on the road trip to the FIU to close out the regular season.
