Bobby Brown became vocal about addiction during his marriage to Whitney Houston.

In the second half of A&E. Biography: Bobby BrownThe singer, which aired on Tuesday night, spoke about his addiction to crack, heroin, cocaine and alcohol before finally becoming demure. He also shared the “big misconception” about his marriage to Houston.

Brown, 53, was portrayed in the press as the “bad boy” during his affair with Houston and has been blamed for a drug spiral. However, he said the “Greatest Love of All” singer with an angelic voice was the most experienced drug user when they met, which he came to know on their wedding day in 1992.

On their wedding day, the new alum was “scared to death” and locked himself in the bathroom, where he “drank, smoked, smelled” cocaine, he recalls frankly. It was his now-wife and then-girlfriend, Alicia Etheridge, who really helped him get over his stress – talking to him outside the bathroom.

When he went out and felt ready to marry, he saw his bride for the first time and she was “making a batch of coke”. While he called it “shock” to see her “cursing for the first time,” his nervousness on his wedding day — and worry about whether he was doing the right thing — made him feel he “had more in common” with Houston than he thought.

However, “I was new to [using cocaine] And I think she’s been doing that for a while.”

Brown said that when he and Houston weren’t getting high, things were great. “She was just the cutest, sweetest person I’ve ever known. They weren’t ‘in the midst of illness’ at first. They focused on raising their new baby, Bobbi Kristina, who was born in 1993, and they ‘partyed’ over the weekend. It quickly became cocaine.” Trouble in our marriage…. After a while, we lost our minds. “

Brown admitted that in addition to cocaine, he smoked heroin and crack, which he mixed with marijuana.

“Being addicted is really hard,” said Brown, who has been on vigil from drugs for 20 years and alcohol for two years. “You don’t know you’re addicted until it gets worse.”

One of the worst moments was touring with the remake collected in 1997 and Houston joining them on the road. Brown remembered that he was so high that he thought Houston was trying to kill him. He said he kicked everyone off the tour bus, stopped and ran into a field with 0.37 Magnum in his hand and cocaine, crack and weed in various pockets.

“They are trying to kill me!” He remembers screaming when the landlord pulled out his rifle at him. Brown subsequently left the tour due to drama and a respiratory problem, calling it “lowest points”.

But this was not “rock bottom”. It came after he was imprisoned in Florida for 65 days in 2000 after violating his parole in a drunk driving accident four years earlier. His addiction reached its peak when he was in prison, but when he left, he said he was completely clean and sober from the drugs. However, Houston did not wake up while incarcerated.

When Whitney carried me [from jail]He remembers, of course there were drugs in the car. I didn’t want any of it. I was glad I didn’t do that. It was out of my system. That’s when I learned I’ve been moved to a different world. I was in a different place at the time. That’s when the problems started with me and with her. I wanted her to become as discreet as you. It was really hard to stay together and be together after that.”

Houston “still used hard drugs,” he said, and while he was weeding out, he started bingeing on alcohol which led to her addiction there. Brown insisted, “We’d still be together if it wasn’t for the drugs. The drugs are the best of us.”

Brown also wanted to clear up a “big misconception” that he had been physically abusive toward Houston during their “turbulent” marriage. Brown was charged in 2003 with battery after an altercation with Houston left her with a bruise on her cheek and a cut on her upper lip. He was sentenced to 60 days in prison for violating his probation.

“I have a big misconception [was that I was] He said, “I physically abuse Whitney. I never physically hit her – on purpose.”

Regarding the injury, Brown alleged that Houston “get in the way of a fight I was having with one of the drug dealers we were dealing with.” He claimed he was sober and “noisy” the merchant to make sure he didn’t come back to their house.

“Whitney got in the way,” he claimed. “My hand came back, I slapped it. It was the worst time of my life. It was something I felt really bad about. I never expected to get my hands on it and to this day I hope it never happens.”

In 2006, Houston filed for separation from Brown and their divorce was finalized the following year. While he came to marry for $55 million — Houston’s father had him show him his bank statements before the couple was allowed to marry “The Voice” — he didn’t get away with anything, including custody of Bobbi Kristina.

“I left everything on the table,” he said, including his cars, his house, and his money. He moved to Los Angeles and lived in his car in the driveway of future wife Etheredge until his legal divorce. Brown then dated Etheredge, a music director, with whom he had a long friendship, and they married in 2012.

This was also the year Houston died after drowning in a hotel bathtub of coronary artery disease and cocaine poisoning. Brown learned the news while touring with the new release. His bandmates told him a long time ago when he walked off the stage.

Brown started crying as he recalled being “shocked” by the news. “It was unbelievable, man… This was the worst time of my life to know she was gone… I wasn’t there… I wish I was there for her. But we made and had to lie on her.”

In hindsight, Brown said “Knowing what happened…I think we could have helped each other. I think she would have stayed here if we hadn’t fired her.”

In the wake of the documentary, Brown has a new documentary series, Bobby Brown: Every Small Step, who focuses on his life now with Etheredge and transcends the deaths of daughter Bobbi Kristina and son Bobby Jr. Which airs Tuesday evening at 10 p.m. after The Doctor. Its usual time is Tuesdays at 9 p.m. starting June 7th.
